The exact genesis of acute dilatation of stomach is still shrouded in mystery. Allbrecht's theory viz kink of the 3rd part of duodenum at the point of crossing of the superior mesenteric vessels through drag of intestines is obviously inapplicable to the present case in view of the fact that there was no dilatation of the proxinal duodenum and the gut beyond the duodenum had been joined to the cut end of stomach.
